First, find an active drop
Check GoFetch for live Golden Squirrels. Availability varies by place and time, so downloading the app does not guarantee a nearby hunt or a reward. A drop can have its own location, opening dates and eligibility requirements.
Read the drop details before setting off. A map marker is a discovery clue, not a reserved voucher. A reward may already have been claimed by the time you arrive, and an expired drop is no longer available to catch.
Follow the encounter and catch the squirrel
For nearby discovery, follow the clues and open the scanner when the app says you are in range. The catch can use augmented reality, but AR is optional. GoFetch also offers a permission-free route: select the active park you are visiting and complete its drop-specific encounter without Location or Camera access.
Stay on accessible public paths and follow local rules. Keep control of your dog and stop to use the phone. A squirrel on a map is never a reason to enter private property or cross somewhere unsafe.
Reveal and keep your reward
If a reward is available and your claim is eligible, the accepted claim reveals the voucher. It is also saved under Your Vouchers, with email delivery available as an optional backup.
Check the voucher’s redemption instructions, expiry and geographic restrictions before using it. The first eligible claim accepted by the server receives the available voucher; a catch attempt does not guarantee an award. No purchase is necessary to take part.
Good questions.
Does every dog walk earn a reward?
No. Golden Squirrels are occasional, limited-availability drops. Your walks, DogDex discoveries and journal remain part of GoFetch whether or not a reward is available.
Can I reserve a Golden Squirrel voucher?
A visible marker does not reserve a reward. The first eligible claim accepted by the server receives the available voucher, subject to the drop’s rules.
Where can I see the rules for a reward?
Read the individual drop details and voucher instructions in the app. Dates, eligibility, expiry and redemption locations can differ between rewards. Apple does not sponsor Golden Squirrel promotions.
